The Tates Creek Commodores will head out on the road to face off against the Henry Clay Blue Devils at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Tates Creek didn't have the best season last year (they finished 12-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on Paul Laurence Dunbar with a sharp 11-5 victory on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Commodores in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won three in a row.
Garrett Biroschik made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Biroschik was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple was his first of the season.
In other pitching news, Gable Hart looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up a single earned run any time he's pitched this season.
