The DeMatha Stags will head out on the road to square off against the Bishop O'Connell Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. DeMatha is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
DeMatha is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Maryland's top teams: The Heights, who was ranked 23rd at the time (DeMatha was ranked 14th). The Stags came out on top against The Heights by a score of 8-3 on Tuesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Stags as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Grayson Candy tossed a big game, striking out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2025.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Zach Perlin, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Franklin Zerpa also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Bishop O'Connell posted their closest win since April 28, 2025 on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Highland, sneaking past 5-4.
Shota Fogus looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk).
At the plate, Bishop O'Connell got a big performance out of Jack Woda, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Lucas Grubb was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.
Bishop O'Connell's record now sits at 7-1. As for DeMatha, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
DeMatha came out on top in a nail-biter against Bishop O'Connell when the teams last played back in March of 2025, sneaking past 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Stags since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
