Statesville Christian is 6-1 against North Hills Christian since December of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Statesville Christian Lions will head out on the road to face off against the North Hills Christian Eagles at 6:15 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
On Tuesday, Statesville Christian came up short against Millers Creek Christian and fell 36-27. Statesville Christian has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, North Hills Christian was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Monday as they fell 48-44 to Rockwell Christian School.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Reese Merrell, who scored 13 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals. She scored a full 29.5% of North Hills Christian's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Ava Kibler was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Millers Creek Christian's win bumped their season record to 1-0 while Statesville Christian's defeat dropped theirs to 1-1.
Statesville Christian couldn't quite finish off North Hills Christian when the teams last played back in November of 2022 and fell 29-26. Can Statesville Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
