Santa Fe is 8-2 against Lafayette since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Raiders will look to defend their home field against the Hornets at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Santa Fe has eight straight wins, Lafayette has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Santa Fe's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Tuesday's struggle, when Columbia hitters got past them. The Raiders narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Tigers 13-11.
Makenna Payne looked comfortable as she tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Madisen Crosby was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was J'Lyn Guyden, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.
Santa Fe kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Lafayette fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Chiefland on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Indians by a score of 9-8. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.
Kambry Moseley was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. Miley McCray was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Santa Fe's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Lafayette, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-8.
Friday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Santa Fe hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .363. However, it's not like Lafayette struggles in that department as they've averaged .313. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Santa Fe took their win against Lafayette when the teams last played back in February by a conclusive 13-4 score. Do the Raiders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hornets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
