The West Springfield Terriers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their seventh straight defeat. They took a serious blow against Central, falling 57-25. While losing is never fun, West Springfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts basketball rankings (they are ranked 98th, while the Golden Eagles are ranked third).
Jai-lyn Garvin-martin was her usual excellent self, scoring 18 points along with five steals for Central. Garvin-martin is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Angela Hector, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds.
West Springfield's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-7. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.7 points per game. As for Central, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 13-3.
West Springfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Central will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
