Basketball Recap: Gabby D'agostino's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Hun over Life Center Academy

It was a good run, but Hun unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 52-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Life Center Academy Warriors. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Raiders came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh, while the Warriors are ranked 415th).

Hun's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gabby D'Agostino, who posted 17 points and five assists. The match was D'Agostino's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Amira Pinkett was another key player, putting up eight points and eight rebounds.

Even though they lost, Hun smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Hun's defeat dropped their record down to 12-3. As for Life Center Academy, their win bumped their record up to 3-6.

Hun is taking a road trip to face off against Pennington at 4:10 p.m. on Wednesday. Hun is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.3 points per game this season. As for Life Center Academy, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Academy of the New Church at 5:00 p.m. on January 14th.
