The Richmond Red Devils will challenge the Center Grove Trojans at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Richmond is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Pendleton Heights, sneaking past 4-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Red Devils.
Zander Juday spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on two hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, Richmond's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Dom McKinley, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Center Grove posted their closest win since April 2nd on Monday. They had just enough and edged out Perry Meridian 4-3. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
The team relied heavily on Drake McClurg, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristan Yeman, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
Richmond's record is now 13-14. As for Center Grove, their record now sits at 25-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Richmond has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Center Grove struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
