The West Craven Eagles pushed their score all the way to 63 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Washington 68-63. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for West Craven in their matchups with Washington: they've now lost seven in a row.
West Craven's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Allen Hall, who scored 24 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Those 24 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamez Simmons, who scored 23 points.
West Craven struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
West Craven's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Washington, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Craven will take on East Carteret at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. East Carteret will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 301st, while West Craven is ranked 148th). As for Washington, they will be playing at home against Farmville Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Farmville Central's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
