After six games on the road, String Theory is heading back home. They will finish 2023 at home by hosting the ASPIRA Charter Wolves at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Friday, String Theory was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 58-53 to Mastery Charter North - Pickett.
Loss or not, String Theory got some senior leadership from Jason Pezzetti who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 14 rebounds and Justus Robertson who scored 15 points along with six rebounds. Pezzetti scored a full 39.6% of String Theory's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Dawud Jones was another key contributor, scoring four points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, ASPIRA Charter unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak last Tuesday. They were outmatched by McKean at home and fell 78-29. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points ASPIRA Charter has scored all season.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Joel Pinder, who scored four points along with five rebounds and four blocks. Those four blocks set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Zy'aire Gibson, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and four blocks.
String Theory's loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 4-5. As for ASPIRA Charter, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 3-4.
Friday's matchup is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: String Theory have been dynamite from deep this season, having drained 37.3% of their threes per game. However, it's not like ASPIRA Charter struggles in that department as they've nailed 37% of their threes per game this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out. Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other basketball content.
