The Highlands Owls lost against the Alamo Heights Mules back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Highlands was the victim of a rough 63-41 loss at the hands of Alamo Heights. While losing is never fun, Highlands can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 991st, while Alamo Heights is ranked 266th).
Highlands lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Aaliyah Jackson, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Karyssa Walker, who scored 14 points.
It was another big night for Sophia Zadel, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds and two steals for Alamo Heights. Magdalena Gutierrez was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six rebounds and two steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Highlands and nudges their season record down to 9-27. As for Alamo Heights, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 24-8.
Highlands does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Alamo Heights, they will face off against Harlandale at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Alamo Heights is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
