After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Lighthouse Christian, the Diamond Wildcats were happy to have found some success on Friday. They strolled past Jefferson Independent Day with points to spare, taking the game 45-26. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Diamond also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2021.
Jefferson Independent Day's loss came despite strong showings from Kohl Thurman and Simon Studer. Thurman dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds, while Studer scored 5 points. Thurman scored a full 46.2% of Jefferson Independent Day's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Diamond's victory bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Jefferson Independent Day, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-5.
Diamond will head out on the road to face off against Bronaugh at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Bronaugh focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Saturday. As for Jefferson Independent Day, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Everton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Missouri (Everton is ranked 277th, while Jefferson Independent Day is ranked 281st).
