Slocum is on a four-game streak of home losses, Kennard a four-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The Slocum Mustangs will take on the Kennard Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Slocum suffered their biggest loss since December 1, 2023 on Tuesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 58-34 walloping at the hands of Wells. Slocum has struggled against Wells recently, as their match on Tuesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the defeat, Slocum saw an underclassman step up: Carter Sbrusch scored 15 points along with two steals. Sbrusch is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last eight games he's played. Another player making a difference was Zach Coble, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, Kennard came up short against Apple Springs on Tuesday and fell 56-48.
Slocum's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-17. As for Kennard, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost 11 of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-20 record this season.
Slocum skirted past Kennard 54-52 in their previous meeting on January 2nd. Will Slocum repeat their success, or does Kennard have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
