Keslie Draney made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and two doubles.
In other batting news, Pleasant Grove got a massive performance out of Maile Larsen, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles Larsen has posted since back in April of 2024. Grace Norman was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
Pleasant Grove always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .618. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lone Peak only posted an OBP of .364.
Meanwhile, Skyridge came up short against Westlake on Tuesday, falling 25-17.
Skyridge got a massive performance out of Hudson Ford, who went 3-for-6 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabella Plewe, who went 4-for-5 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
Pleasant Grove is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Skyridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-11.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Pleasant Grove hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .456. However, it's not like Skyridge struggles in that department as they've averaged .359. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Pleasant Grove's way against Skyridge in their previous meeting two weeks ago, as Pleasant Grove made off with a 21-11 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
