Castle View hasn't had much luck against Legend recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Sabercats will venture away from home to challenge the Titans at 4:30 p.m. Castle View is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.
Castle View is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Colorado's top teams: Ponderosa, who was ranked 19th at the time (Castle View was ranked 11th). The Sabercats sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over the Mustangs on Thursday. The Sabercats have beaten the Mustangs the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Mustangs has come to flipping the script.
Castle View got a great performance from Ethan Scott as he tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits.
At the plate, Jacob Allen was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Tyler Feldhake was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.
Chaparral typically has all the answers at home, but on Thursday Legend proved too difficult a challenge. They had just enough and edged out the Wolverines 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Titans have posted against the Wolverines since April 22, 2017.
Tyler Houston tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out nine over 6.1 innings pitched.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jacob Fladebo, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Legend: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-14 otherwise.
Legend was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chaparral only posted a batting average of .154.
Legend's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-14. As for Castle View, their record is now 16-6.
Legend's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Castle View hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .346. It's a different story for Legend, though, as they've only averaged .256. Will they be able to contain Castle View's hitters?
Castle View couldn't quite finish off Legend in their previous meeting back in April and fell 8-6. Can the Sabercats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
