McClintock gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener  on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Maricopa Rams with a sharp  54-33 win. The  contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached  42-14.
  Jaxon Knutson went supernova for McClintock, throwing for 466 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 11.4 yards per attempt, and also rushing for 45 yards and a touchdown. That's the most  rushing yards  Knutson has posted since  back in September of 2023.  Khalil Bender was  Knutson's top target, picking up 139 receiving yards and a touchdown.
 Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, McClintock was moving up and down the field and  finished the game with 593  total yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Maricopa only gained 248.
 McClintock is headed away from home for the first time to  challenge  Marcos de Niza  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. Hopefully McClintock focused on turnovers this week  as team gave up four on Thursday. As for Maricopa, they will face off against Browne at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. Maricopa is no doubt hoping to put an end to  a five-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
