Basketball Recap: R.W. Goines Stem Academy's Loss Ends Six-Game Winning Streak at Home

R.W. Goines Stem Academy entered their match against Texas Alliance of Christian Athletes on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. R.W. Goines Stem Academy fell to the Texas Alliance of Christian Athletes Storm 57-51. While losing is never fun, R.W. Goines Stem Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 310th, while Texas Alliance of Christian Athletes is ranked 147th).

Defeat or not, R.W. Goines Stem Academy got some senior leadership from Bryceson Melvin and Malachi Cox. Melvin went 8 of 19 on his way to 19 points along with six assists and five boards, while Cox posted 11 points and four steals. Mason Hervey was another key player, putting up four points and four blocks.

Even though they lost, R.W. Goines Stem Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Leading Texas Alliance of Christian Athletes to victory were Austin Senters and Tyson Heard. Senters almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds, while Heard put up 13 points. What's more, Senters also racked up two blocks, the most he's had since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Trace Clark, who earned six points.

R.W. Goines Stem Academy's loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-12. As for Texas Alliance of Christian Athletes, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season.

R.W. Goines Stem Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 93-63 defeat against Oak Cliff Faith Family Academy on the 16th. As for Texas Alliance of Christian Athletes, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 72-60 win against North Central Texas Academy on the 14th.
