Softball Recap: Weeki Wachee Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Weeki Wachee lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Seven Rivers Christian, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's game. The Weeki Wachee Hornets never let the Seven Rivers Christian Warriors get on the board and left with a 17-0 win on Thursday. With that victory, the Hornets brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Alvalyn Crisp made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Crisp was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while going 3-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Austyn Childs was a standout: she scored three runs and stole six bases while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances. She also put up an RBI, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Reegan Miller, who went 1-for-2 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple.

Weeki Wachee always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .704. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Seven Rivers Christian only posted an OBP of .455.

The win snapped Weeki Wachee's losing streak at four games dating back to last season and leaves them with a 1-3 record. As for Seven Rivers Christian, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Weeki Wachee will head out to square off against Dunnellon at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. Weeki Wachee is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season. As for Seven Rivers Christian, they are taking a road trip to face off against Bronson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Seven Rivers Christian has given up an average of 12.8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
