The biggest upset of the week belonged to Hillcrest, who defeated 119th ranked Clarke County, 8-6.
The Jaguars moved up to 124 from 178 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 4A Region 1. Hillcrest climbed the ranks as a result of topping the Bulldogs 8-6.
UMS-Wright Prep's dynamic duo of Gunner Roach and Jaylon Jones proved tough for Escambia County to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Roach threw for 146 yards and Jones had 100 yards receiving. Christian Pearsall helped UMS-Wright Prep's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 35 yards.
The Bulldogs' dynamic duo of Roach and Jones proved to be unstoppable against the Blue Devils, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Michael McCalman was a passing and rushing force as Andalusia bested Thomasville. He completed 7 passes for 72 yards and also ran for 129 yards. McCalman's favorite target this week was Devante Jackson, who caught 5 passes for 53 yards.
Roach put up the best numbers through the air as UMS-Wright Prep beat Escambia County.
Jones was the best wideout in the league this week as Terry Curtis' team topped Mark Heaton's team.
McCalman was the most successful running back in the league this week. Teammate Derrick Dorsey added to the ground attack by rushing for 68 yards.
Leading 4A Region 1 in both passing and receiving yards, the Bulldogs' Roach and Jones have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-2 quarterback Roach has thrown for 616 yards this season, while Jones has 20 catches for 380 yards. McCalman from the Bulldogs leads the league in rushing with 562 yards.
Wilcox Central was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in the league. The Jaguars beat Monroe County 14-13 earlier in the week.
