On Tuesday, the Layton Lancers faced the Davis Darts in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Layton skirted past Davis 72-70. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Layton has posted yet this season.
Among those leading the charge was David Katoa, who scored 22 points along with five blocks. Another player making a difference was Mekhi Martin, who scored 15 points.
Despite the loss, Davis still got an impressive performance from Zach Fisher, who scored 28 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Fisher has scored all season. Coleman Atwater was another key contributor, scoring 19 points.
Layton pushed their record up to 14-1 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Davis, their loss dropped their record down to 10-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Layton will take on Farmington at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Farmington has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 2-1 during that stretch of close contests. As for Davis, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Syracuse at 7:00 p.m. Syracuse is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
