Softball Recap: Winter Park Drops Highest Score of Season Against Bishop Moore

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Winter Park). They came out on top against the Bishop Moore Hornets by a score of 9-5 on Friday. The win was some much needed relief for the Wildcats as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.

Lindsey Allen was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. That run marked the first that she scored this season.

In other batting news, Rylie Scanlon was excellent, going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in February. Abby Summers also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Winter Park kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.

Winter Park picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 4-9. As for Bishop Moore, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Winter Park will take on Cypress Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The timing isn't great for Winter Park: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Cypress Creek has snatched up four consecutive wins on the road. As for Bishop Moore, they will face off against Lake Highland Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bishop Moore is facing Lake Highland Prep at the right time seeing as Lake Highland Prep is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
