The St. Francis Knights will head out on the road to face off against the Wesleyan Wolves at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Francis has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 639 points over their last nine matchups.
St. Francis has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 23 points or more this season. Everything went their way against Cherokee on Saturday as St. Francis made off with a 69-46 win. Given St. Francis' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked second, while Cherokee is ranked 61st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead St. Francis to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sa'Mya Wyatt, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 10 rebounds. The matchup was Wyatt's ninth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Giaunni Rogers, who scored 21 points.
Meanwhile, Wesleyan entered their tilt with River Ridge with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Wesleyan snuck past River Ridge with a 69-65 win on Saturday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Their wins bumped St. Francis to 9-0 and Cherokee to 4-1.
St. Francis beat Wesleyan 59-48 in their previous meeting back in February of 2021. The rematch might be a little tougher for St. Francis since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
