The Burlington Township Falcons''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their seventh straight loss. They took a serious blow against Willingboro, falling 42-7. Burlington Township was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-7.
Despite the defeat, Burlington Township saw an underclassman step up: Quayd Hendryx picked up 103 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Willingboro found their leader in underclassman Lamar Best, who picked up 80 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 257 yards and a touchdown while picking up 12.9 yards per attempt. Best's longest reception was for an incredible 80 yards. Jarelle Taylor jr. was another key contributor, picking up 113 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Burlington Township's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 2-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 7-1 Delsea (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 62.5% over those games). As for Willingboro, the victory was the sixth in a row for they, bringing their record for this year to 7-2.
Burlington Township will head out on the road to face off against Delsea at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Willingboro, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Monmouth Regional at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Monmouth Regional will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New Jersey Rankings (they are ranked 193rd, while Willingboro is ranked 44th).
