On Saturday, Maclay came up short against Putnam Vo-Tech and fell 45-34. While losing is never fun, Maclay can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 485th in Florida, while Putnam Vo-Tech is ranked 29th in Massachusetts).
Despite the loss, Maclay had strong showings from Nash Beshears, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and four steals, and George Grant, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Maclay has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season. As for Putnam Vo-Tech, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-2.
Maclay and North Florida Christian will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 22nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Putnam Vo-Tech, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Holyoke at 7:00 p.m.
