The Goshen RedHawks are taking a road trip to face off against the Mishawaka Cavemen at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Goshen came out on top against Warsaw on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive nine-run fourth inning. The RedHawks put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 13-3 win. The result was nothing new for the RedHawks, who have now won three matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
Ryen Diaz spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on eight hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Braxton Cline, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Colton Rapp also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Goshen always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Warsaw only posted an OBP of .346.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mishawaka). They were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over Wawasee on Wednesday. The Cavemen haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Mishawaka let Kamdon Putz and Shawn Nowacki run wild. Putz got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI, two doubles, and one run, while Nowacki went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Izaiah Bute was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Mishawaka's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-3. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Goshen, their record is now 3-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Goshen has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Mishawaka struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
