The Morning Star Academy Mustangs suffered their closest loss since November 18, 2023 on Saturday. They fell just short of Galesburg Christian by a score of 31-28. Morning Star Academy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played last Tuesday.
Despite the loss, Morning Star Academy still got an impressive performance from Allison Ammann, who scored ten points along with four blocks and three steals. Ammann has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Addison Smith, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Galesburg Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kaela Hall, who scored 13 points. That makes it five consecutive games in which Hall has scored at least a third of Galesburg Christian's points. Grace Potter was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Morning Star Academy has not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-13 record this season. As for Galesburg Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season.
