The Bucktail Bucks will head out on the road to take on the Cameron County Raiders at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Bucktail has three straight victories, Cameron County has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Bucktail's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They put the hurt on Millville with a sharp 18-0 win. Considering the Bucks have won eight matches by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Carrie Ditty was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Ditty was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That double was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Eva Sockman and Lola English did most of the damage at the plate: Sockman went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI, while English went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. Sockman continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Makenna Stone, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Bucktail was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .630. The last time their batting average was this high was back in May of 2024.
Meanwhile, Cameron County came up short against Port Allegany on Thursday, falling 25-7.
Cameron County's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Bucktail, their record now sits at 10-7.
Everything went Bucktail's way against Cameron County in their previous meeting back in March of 2019, as Bucktail made off with a 10-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bucks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
