Evangel Christian has gone a perfect 10-0 against Tuscaloosa Home Educators recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Evangel Christian Lightning will host the Tuscaloosa Home Educators Warriors at 4:30 p.m. Evangel Christian is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.
Evangel Christian is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Ezekiel Academy on Monday as Evangel Christian made off with a 16-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Lightning, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.
ZAC GROSSMANN was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Kemp Swords, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Evangel Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ezekiel Academy only posted an OBP of .357.
Meanwhile, Tuscaloosa Home Educators unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak last Saturday. They fell just short of Southern Christian by a score of 5-4.
Jackson Sodergren was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one triple and two RBI. That triple was his first of the season.
Sodergren wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Eli Morrison, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Lawson Averette was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Evangel Christian pushed their record up to 13-1 with the win, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Tuscaloosa Home Educators, their loss dropped their record down to 5-2.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Evangel Christian has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .485. However, it's not like Tuscaloosa Home Educators struggles in that department as they've averaged .437. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Evangel Christian took their victory against Tuscaloosa Home Educators in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 12-0. Will Evangel Christian repeat their success, or does Tuscaloosa Home Educators have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
