Moapa Valley and Pahrump Valley are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2018, but likely not for long. The Pirates will host the Trojans at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Moapa Valley's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last seven contests.
While Moapa Valley's win against Pahranagat Valley wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Pirates skirted past the Panthers 13-11. The victory continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won nine in a row.
Alyssa Evans was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in March. Another player making a difference was Shelby Cornwall, who went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Moapa Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .568. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .444 or higher in six consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Pahrump Valley won against Valley on Friday with 15 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Trojans didn't even let Canyon Springs on the board, marking the Trojans' second-straight 15-0 shutout. Considering the Trojans have won 14 matchups by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Ryleigh Denton, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs. Mariah Gray was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base.
Moapa Valley pushed their record up to 18-4 with the win, which was their tenth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.7 runs over those games. As for Pahrump Valley, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-8 record this season.
Wednesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Moapa Valley has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .641. However, it's not like Pahrump Valley struggles in that department as they've averaged .443. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Moapa Valley came up short against Pahrump Valley in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, falling 13-10. Will the Pirates have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
