Baseball Recap: Berean Christian Extends Winning Streak to Three

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Berean Christian walked away with it. They put the hurt on the Sports Leadership & Management Cobras with a sharp 20-2 victory on Monday. Considering the Bulldogs have won six contests by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Leo Villarreal looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit.

At the plate, Berean Christian let Reilley Moore and Connor King run wild. Moore went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run, while King scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Berean Christian is undefeated when King posts two or more runs, but 3-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Elijah Brown, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.

Berean Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .565. They are 4-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The win (which was Berean Christian's third in a row) raised their record to 7-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Sports Leadership & Management, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-12.

Coming up, Berean Christian will head out to square off against Jupiter Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season.
