Basketball Game Preview: Fort Bend Dulles Vikings vs. Fort Bend Hightower Hurricanes

Fort Bend Dulles hasn't had much luck against Fort Bend Hightower recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Fort Bend Dulles Vikings will be playing at home against the Fort Bend Hightower Hurricanes at 5:30 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with six losses in a row, Fort Bend Dulles turned things around against Fort Bend Clements on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 39-36 win over the Rangers.

Fort Bend Dulles found their leader in sophomore Laylah Thornton, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 21 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Thornton a new career-high in boards. Gissele Reyes was another key player, putting up seven points and four steals.

Fort Bend Dulles smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in nine consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Fort Bend Hightower entered their tilt with Fort Bend Bush on Saturday with 12 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 13. They blew past the Broncos, posting a 79-36 victory. The Hurricanes have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 16 contests by 20 points or more this season.

Fort Bend Hightower pushed their record up to 24-5 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 35.6 points. As for Fort Bend Dulles, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-22.

Fort Bend Dulles was dealt a bruising 94-21 defeat at the hands of Fort Bend Hightower when the teams last played back in December of 2024. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Fort Bend Dulles was down 48-5.
