The Forest Lake Christian Falcons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their 11th straight loss. They lost to Encina Prep on the road by a decisive 87-70 margin. While losing is never fun, Forest Lake Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1379th, while Encina Prep is ranked 645th).
Despite the loss, Forest Lake Christian saw an underclassman step up: Brendan Hooper scored 21 points along with five assists. Those five assists set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Jacob Stosen, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Even though they lost, Forest Lake Christian were working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Encina Prep to victory, but perhaps none more so than Adrian Grace, who scored 24 points along with six assists and five rebounds. Grace continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Phillip Worsham , who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and seven assists.
Forest Lake Christian bumped their record down to 2-11 with that loss, which was their eighth straight on the road. As for Encina Prep, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Forest Lake Christian will square off against Trinity Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Trinity Christian is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games. As for Encina Prep, they will head out on the road to face off against Sierra Academy of Expeditionary Learning at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
