Independent is 2-8 against the Owls since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Independent Panthers will be playing at home against the Garden Plain Owls at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Independent has three straight wins, the Owls have five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Independent can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They blew past Kingman 61-38. Given Independent's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 29th, while the Eagles are ranked 295th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Garden Plain was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 41-37 to the Cardinals.
Independent is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2-1 record this season. As for Garden Plain, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season.
Independent beat the Owls 43-33 when the teams last played back in March of 2023. Does Independent have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Owls turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
