The Northampton County Jaguars can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 65-44 margin over Weldon. The win was nothing new for Northampton County as they're now sitting on six straight.
Michaela Hodge was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 18 rebounds. Hodge is absolutely dominating the block category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyra Vincent, who scored 15 points along with two steals.
Weldon lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Shaelyn Johnson, who scored 13 points along with seven steals. Another player making a difference was Kamya Coles, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and eight steals.
Northampton County pushed their record up to 9-2 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.3 points per game. As for Weldon, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northampton County will take on Wilson Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Wilson Prep will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 567th, while Northampton County is ranked 268th). As for Weldon, Weldon and North Edgecombe will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
