Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Lake Stevens

Lake Stevens won the last time they faced Mountlake Terrace and things went their way on Monday too. The Vikings were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Hawks. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by eight runs or more this season.

Mara Sivley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up 15 Ks. Those 15 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, Alyssa Anderson and Alaina Emme did most of the damage at the plate: Anderson went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two doubles, and two RBI, while Emme went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI and one run. Those two RBI gave Anderson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alexis Osterholtz, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Lake Stevens kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mountlake Terrace only managed three hits.

The win (which was Lake Stevens' fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Mountlake Terrace, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lake Stevens will face off against Kamiak at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mountlake Terrace, they will challenge Edmonds-Woodway at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Hawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 9.9 runs per game this season.
