The biggest upset of the week belonged to North Rowan, who took down 126th ranked North Rowan, 29-22. Deon Christian threw for 105 yards and one touchdown and ran for 94 yards in the win.
Albemarle moved up to 140 from 177 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 1A Yadkin Valley. A 29-22 win over the Cavaliers helped the Bulldogs improve their standing.
Albemarle's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Alvin Currie helped Albemarle's passing attack out by catching two balls for 18 yards.
Timmie White was the best wideout in the league this week as Danny Akins' team defeated North Rowan. White racked up three receptions for 79 yards.
Albemarle's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Bulldogs feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Christian has thrown for 908 yards and 12 touchdowns this season, while White has 15 catches for 255 yards. Kevin McKinney leads the league in rushing with 826 yards.
A big matchup in 1A Yadkin Valley this week will be when the Bulldogs take on East Montgomery. As it stands, Albemarle is in first, while the Eagles are in fifth.
There should be lots of points scored when the Bulldogs and East Montgomery face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Albemarle comes in having scored 346 this season, while Phil Collett's team has scored 123. The Bulldogs scored 29 points last week as they beat the Cavaliers.
Albemarle extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating North Rowan, 29-22. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
