If the Campo Verde Coyotes were feeling good off their 62-29 takedown of the Mountain Pointe Pride last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Campo Verde took a 36-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of Casteel. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Campo Verde has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Campo Verde still got an impressive performance from Kelsey Watts, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 22 rebounds. Watts hasn't dropped below two steals for 12 straight games.
Casteel's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ava Lewis, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Jackie Rosado, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.
Campo Verde's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-7. As for Casteel, their victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Campo Verde will square off against Mountain Pointe at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Mountain Pointe will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 215th, while Campo Verde is ranked 55th). As for Casteel, they will head out on the road to face off against Williams Field at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Williams Field is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last seven games.
