The Curlew Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They were outmatched by Republic on the road and fell 77-38. Curlew was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Republic apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
When it comes to explaining why Curlew lost, one person who can't be blamed is Evan Olson. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. Olson continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Logan Thompson was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven rebounds.
Curlew's defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-5. As for Republic, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Curlew will be home for the holidays to greet Oroville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Republic will be home for the holidays to greet Columbia at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
