The Staley Falcons will take on the Lee's Summit West Titans at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
On Thursday, Staley got the win against Raymore-Peculiar by a conclusive 3-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Falcons.
Staley was especially dominant in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 25-8, 25-20, 25-18.
Staley found their leader in sophomore Andy Phung, who had 11 digs and three aces. Jamin Callaway also deserves some recognition as he had his first kill of the season.
Staley was lethal from the service line and finished the game with ten aces. That's the most aces they've posted in their last eight contests.
Lee's Summit West had lost three straight headed into Thursday's game, but Jayden Ring didn't let it get to four. The Titans put the hurt on Lee's Summit with a sharp 3-0 win on Thursday with plenty of help from Ring, who had 13 digs and one assist. He is on a roll when it comes to digs, as he's now had 12 or more in each of the last four games he's played.
The victory didn't come easy: Lee's Summit scored at least 18 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-19, 25-18.
Staley's win bumped their record up to 21-8-1. As for Lee's Summit West, their victory bumped their record up to 20-8-1.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's match: Staley has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 6 aces per game. However, it's not like Lee's Summit West struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.6 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
