The Santana Sultans will venture away from home to take on the Grossmont Foothillers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Friday, Santana earned a 21-14 win over El Cajon Valley. The Sultans haven't had any issues with the Braves recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Santana found their leader in sophomore Julian Mayers, who rushed for 137 yards and two TDs. Those 137 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Mayers.
Santana didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited El Cajon Valley to a completion percentage of just 30%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from five players: Kolten Thornton, Anthony Terry, Dawson DelaCruz, Xander Bennett, and Caleb Carnes, who each logged one passes deflected. Sadly, that's becoming something of a trend for Santana; they were averaging 60.8%completion percentage earlier this season, but in their last three contests they've fallen to only 60.8%.
Meanwhile, Grossmont was fully in charge on Friday, breezing past Valhalla 38-8. The matchup marked the Foothillers' most dominant win of the season.
Santana better focus on containing Tyler Holmes and Corbin Dow as the pair were huge in Grossmont's win. Holmes threw for 193 yards and three touchdowns, while Dow rushed for 86 yards and a pair of scores. 83 of Holmes' passing yards were hauled in by Randy Ballard, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.
Grossmont's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Vinny Michelson, Ryder Robinson, and Maddox Yeargan, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Santana's record now sits at 4-2. As for Grossmont, their record is now 5-1.
Santana suffered a grim 46-21 defeat to Grossmont in their previous meeting back in October of 2023. Can the Sultans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
