Abilene is 2-8 against Wylie since March of 2023 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. Abilene will look to defend their home field against Wylie at 6:30 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Tuesday.
Abilene's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They put the hurt on Legacy with a sharp 14-0 victory. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Leopards recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Wylie, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They blew past Legacy 13-3 last Friday. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.
Colby Garrett made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave him a new career-low. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI.
In other batting news, Wylie let Dylan Regala and Ty Briscoe run wild. Regala went 3-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Briscoe scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those three runs gave Regala a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jace Tomlin, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Wylie always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Legacy only posted an OBP of .367.
Wylie has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. Abilene pushed their record up to 14-7-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home.
Abilene might still be hurting after the 15-8 defeat they got from Wylie when the teams last played on March 13th. Will Abilene have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
