Basketball Recap: Mapieu Kouchinin Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Bruning-Davenport/Shickley

You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for McCool Junction on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 74-49 margin over the Bruning-Davenport/Shickley Eagles. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 25 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead McCool Junction to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mapieu Kouchinin, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. The match was Kouchinin's 17th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Carson Mcdonald, who went 5 for 9 en route to 14 points in addition to seven assists and five boards.

McCool Junction's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-3. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.0 points per game. As for Bruning-Davenport/Shickley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.

Coincidentally, McCool Junction and Bruning-Davenport/Shickley will both be playing Osceola the next time they take the court. McCool Junction will head out to face Osceola at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, while Bruning-Davenport/Shickley will host them at 7:30 p.m. on February 4th.
