The Lake Country Christian Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their 12th straight defeat. They suffered a rough 72-48 defeat at the hands of Covenant Christian. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Lake Country Christian in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now lost six in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Lake Country Christian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Bryce Fagley. Despite the final result, he scored ten points along with three steals and two blocks. Another player making a difference was Sam Foley, who scored 11 points.
Even though they lost, Lake Country Christian were working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. This was only their 15th loss (out of 20 games) when they've passed the ball that well.
It was another big night for Matthew Boughton, who scored 18 points along with five assists and two steals for Covenant Christian. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaron Turner, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds.
Lake Country Christian dropped their record down to 7-24 with that defeat, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Covenant Christian, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lake Country Christian's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. Pantego Christian is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 53.9 points per game this season. As for Covenant Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against the Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Trinity Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 811th, while the Cougars are ranked 160th).
