Even though the Meek Tigers have not done well against the Winston County Yellowjackets recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Meek snuck past Winston County with a 51-47 victory. The win made it back-to-back wins for Meek.
Meek found their leader in underclassman Aleah Addison, who scored 20 points. The matchup was Addison's seventh in a row with at least ten points.
Several Yellowjackets players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Marli Stewart, who scored eight points along with five rebounds. Lynleigh Cobb was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Meek is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for Winston County, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Meek will challenge Lynn at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Winston County will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Sulligent at 5:30 p.m. on January 4, 2024.
