The Brazoswood Buccaneers''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They were dealt a 42-10 defeat at the hands of Clear Falls. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Brazoswood in their matchups with Clear Falls: they've now lost four in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Brazoswood lost, one person who can't be blamed is Shaydon Coulter. Despite the final result, he picked up 98 receiving yards and a touchdown. Coulter's longest reception was for an incredible 79 yards.
Clear Falls got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Payton Greer out in front who rushed for 98 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Vessel, who threw for 270 yards and two touchdowns.
Brazoswood's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 3-6. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Clear Falls, Clear Springs, and Clear Creek. As for Clear Falls, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season.
Coincidentally, Brazoswood and Clear Falls will both be playing Clear Lake the next time they take the field. Clear Falls will host Clear Lake at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Brazoswood will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd.
