Baseball Recap: Jefferson Sets Scoring Season-High Against Rockford Auburn

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Jefferson). They blew past the Rockford Auburn Knights 16-1 on Monday. The high-scoring effort was just what the J-Hawks needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

Eli Chavera and Ryan Bauer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Chavera struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Meanwhile, Bauer pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Chavera has become a key player for Jefferson: the team is undefeated when he allows at most three earned runs, but 0-10 otherwise. At bat, Chavera went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Bauer went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs Bauer has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Jefferson got a massive performance out of Devin Williamson, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs Williamson has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Julio Soto, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Jefferson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .690. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Jefferson's victory bumped their record up to 3-10. As for Rockford Auburn, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13.

Jefferson will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Knights: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
