The Kelly Catholic Bulldogs are taking a road trip to face off against the Cypress Christian Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Last Friday, Kelly Catholic made easy work of Frassati Catholic and carried off a 19-9 win.
Kelly Catholic got a great performance from Claudia Espinosa as she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits.

On the hitting side, Abigail Brown was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Kristin Pearson also deserves some recognition as she got her first hits of the season.
Kelly Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cypress Christian). They never let Frassati Catholic get on the board and left with a 20-0 victory on Friday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
KK Smith made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring four runs while going 3-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Audrey Petrowski, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Another player making a difference was Ashtyn Turnbow, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double.
Kelly Catholic's record now sits at 11-16-2. As for Cypress Christian, their record is now 5-7.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Kelly Catholic hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .354. However, it's not like Cypress Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .351. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Kelly Catholic suffered a grim 10-3 defeat to Cypress Christian in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
