Softball Recap: Licking Has No Trouble Against Summersville

Fans were treated to a battle of the Wildcats on Tuesday. Licking blew past Summersville 14-6. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Licking also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2024.

Kimree Brazier made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Brazier was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing four bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Zoey Dawson and Aubrey Gorman did most of the damage at the plate: Dawson went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Gorman scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Mya Rinne was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

The victory made it two in a row for Licking and bumps their season record up to 2-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. As for Summersville, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Licking will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they takes on Ava at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Summersville, they will face off against Liberty at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
