St. Agnes gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the St. Croix Lutheran Crusaders 7-5. Winning may never get old, but the Aggies sure are getting used to it with their tenth in a row dating back to last season.
Josh Lopez was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlie Witzel, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.
St. Croix Lutheran is on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Agnes will square off against St. Cloud Cathedral at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for St. Croix Lutheran, they will venture away from home to take on St. Croix Prep at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
