The Crestwood Red Devils will take on the Berkshire Badgers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Crestwood is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.
Things were looking good for Crestwood after they put the first run on the board on Thursday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Chagrin Falls by a score of 8-7.
Jillian Hayes made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Jocelyn Johnson, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Berkshire got themselves on the board against Wickliffe on Saturday, but Wickliffe never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Blue Devils with a sharp 9-0 win. Considering the Badgers have won three contests by more than eight runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
The result came thanks to Moira Wonders's shutout, as she gave up just six hits and racked up 18 Ks. Those 18 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
On the hitting side, Whitney Davis was incredible, going 3-for-5 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in May of 2025. Mallory Durosko was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Berkshire kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive matchups.
Crestwood has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season. As for Berkshire, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Crestwood has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Berkshire struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Crestwood might still be hurting after the 17-7 loss they got from Berkshire when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Can the Red Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
