Silverado hasn't had much luck against Palo Verde recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Silverado Skyhawks will look to defend their home field against the Palo Verde Panthers at 3:30 p.m. Silverado has given up an average of 11 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
Silverado is headed into Monday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Thursday. They came up short against Centennial, falling 17-1.
Silverado saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Yvonne Jimenez, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Jimenez also hit a double, marking her first of the season.
Meanwhile, Palo Verde got themselves on the board against Rancho on Thursday, but Rancho never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Rams with a sharp 15-0 win. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Rams recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Alexis Kearnes made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Kearnes was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Halle Law was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Makayla Enriquez, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-3.
Palo Verde was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .643. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.
Palo Verde pushed their record up to 2-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Silverado, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.
